At the META-FORUM in Lisbon, Portugal, Tilde's CEO Andrejs Vasiļjevs chaired a session on the data economy and the multilingual Digital Single Market.

The hour-long session, which kicked-off the two-day event, featured presentations on two important policy documents for the language technology and Big Data communities: the Big Data Value Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda and the Strategic Agenda for the Multilingual Digital Single Market.

Following the presentations, Tilde's CEO moderated a panel discussion on "Language as a Key Challenge for Big Data – Current state of play and future directions." The discussion included representatives from Philips, DFKI, and Charles University in Prague.

On Day 2 of the META-FORUM, Tilde's CEO gave a presentation entitled "Towards European Translation Cloud: Development of public MT services in the Baltic countries." The presentation described some of Tilde's recent work on building MT services for the Baltic governments, which are a fine example of how EU Member States can contribute to Europe's automated translation platform, CEF.AT, with language-specific tools and services that features that highest translation quality for their respective languages.

META-FORUM 2016 is an international conference on powerful and innovative language technologies for the multilingual information society, the data value chain, and the information market place.
