EAMT 2016 Gala event

The 19th annual European Association for Machine Translation (EAMT) conference was held in Riga, Latvia, last week. Organized by Tilde and EAMT, the event gathered more than 80 language technology experts from 29 countries, who spent three days discussing the state-of-the-art and future of MT.

The conference was held at the University of Latvia in central Riga, with a gala dinner at the brand new Latvian National Library restaurant.

Participants included representatives from localization industry giants Welocalize, Star Group, Amplexor, and SDL; leading universities such as Dublin City University, University of Edinburg, LMU Munich, and University of Sheffield; and global online platforms like LexisNexis and Booking.com.

Sponsors for this year's EAMT conference were Star Group and Welocalize. Supporters included ELRA, Apertium, and Springer.

The proceedings were published as a special issue of the Baltic Journal of Modern Computing, an open access journal indexed by Thomson Reuters Web of Science Core Collection. Selected papers will be published (in an extended version) in the Machine Translation journal.
